KELLY JOY - CANDIDATE FOR EDENDALE WARD, NILLUMBIK SHIRE COUNCIL

Kelly nominated as a candidate for Edendale Ward in Nillumbik Shire in the October 2024 Local Government Election

About me:

I aspire to be Councillor of Edendale Ward because I am passionate about improving the lifestyle and wellbeing of our community and believe my skills and experience will be an asset to the Council and the community.

Personal background:

Originally from Adelaide, I raised my now adult daughter as a single parent. We moved to Melbourne in 2018, where I met my husband Steve, then we made Diamond Creek our home in 2020. Steve and I live in Edendale Ward (at the St Helena end of Diamo) with our three dogs Teddy (Yorkie), Maisy (Maltese X) and Spice (Toy Poodle). In my spare time, I enjoy dressmaking (usually canine apparel) and tending my rose and vegetable gardens - and of course walking the wonderful Diamond Creek Trail. (Once we get across Ryans Road that is!)

Professional background:

After a 15+ year career in State Government, I have recently started my own consulting business and returned to academia in the area of health and nutrition, I hold degrees in human nutrition and agriculture. I also serve as a Board Director and am a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. My professional background has given me a solid understanding of strategic planning, government processes, and the importance of good policy - I believe in genuine community engagement and have a low tolerance for bureaucracy and politicking.

Political platform:

  • No affiliation with any political party

  • Infrastructure and services that support healthy, active living, for all ages and abilities

  • Sensible development in-keeping with local character and the green wedge

  • Long-term strategic planning, good governance and effective spending

  • You tell me?! I want to understand what you want and to represent you!
